Q. Three capacitors of $2.0\, \mu F ,\, 3.0\, \mu F$ and $6.0\, \mu F$ are connected in series to a $10\, V$ source. The charge on the $3.0\, \mu F$ capacitor is

Solution:

Net capacitance $=\frac{1}{\left(\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{3}+\frac{1}{6}\right)}=1\, \mu F$
Total charge $=C V=1\, \mu F \times 10\, V =10\, \mu C$
Total charge on every capacitor in series system is same.
So charge on $3\, \mu F$ is $10\, \mu C$.
