Q. There is a trolley in which there is a fixed inclined surface on which a smooth block of mass $5 \, kg$ is placed. Two horizontal forces of magnitude $F_{1}$ and $F_{2}$ are applied on the trolley as shown to keep the trolley at rest. The value of $F_{1} \, - \, F_{2}$ is : (Assume there is no friction between the trolley and horizontal ground and $g \, = \, 10 \, m \, s^{- 2}$ )

There is a trolley for which
$F_{1}+Nsin37^\circ =F_{2}$
Solution

$F_{1}-F_{2}=\left[- N sin 37 ^\circ \right]$ . . . (1)
$N=\left[m g cos 37 ^\circ \right]$ . . . (2)
$F_{1}-F_{2}=-mgcos37^\circ sin37^\circ $
$=-5\times 10\times \frac{4}{5}\times \frac{3}{5}=-24 \, N$
