Q. There is a large number of carbon compounds due to

The p-Block Elements

Solution:

Due to the catenation property, carbon forms a large number of compounds. Carbon has four electrons in its valence shell. These four electrons are available to the carbon atom to form bonds with other atoms; be it carbon or other elements. Thus, due to the property of catenation, carbon can form the various length of chain. Hence, the number of carbon compounds is very large.
