AFMCAFMC 2000

Solution:

The theory of spontaneous generation was supported by a number of philosophers like Aristotle, Plato, Thales, Empedocles, Vinemont. These believed that different types of organisms are developed from non-living organisms directly.
Francesco Redi $(1668)$ first demonstrated that maggots could not be created from meat. Instead, the eggs laid by the flies on the meat hatched into flies.
