Q. The weight of sphere in air is $50g$ . Its weight $40g$ in a liquid, at temperature of $20^{°}C$ When temperature increases to $70^{°}C,$ it eight becomes $45g$ , then the ratio of densities of liquid at given two temperature $\frac{a}{b}.$ Fill the value of $\frac{a}{b}.$

Solution:

Let density of liquid at $20^{°}C$ be $\rho _{1}$ and at $70^{°}C$ be $\rho _{2}\&W_{apparent}=W_{air}-Vρg$
then at $20^{°}C:40=50-Vρ_{1}g\Rightarrow Vρ_{1}g=10$ and at $70^{°}C:45=50-Vρ_{2}g\Rightarrow Vρ_{2}g=5$
⇒ So density ratio $\frac{\rho _{1}}{\rho _{2}}=\frac{2}{1}$
