Q. The wave function (in $S I$ unit) for a light wave is given as $\Psi(x, t)=10^{3} \sin \pi\left(3 \times 10^{6} x-9 \times 10^{14}\, t\right)$ The frequency of the wave is equal to

AMUAMU 2012Electromagnetic Waves

Solution:

The wave function
$\Psi(x, t)=10^{3} \sin \pi\left(3 \times 10^{6} x-9 \times 10^{4} t\right)$
Here, Angular frequency $\cos=9 \times 10^{14} \pi \omega=2 \pi n$
$n=\frac{\omega}{2 \pi}=\frac{9 \times 10^{14} \pi}{2 \pi}$
$=4.5 \times 10^{14} Hz$
