Q.
The volume of oxygen necessary for the complete combustion of $ 20\,\,L $ of propane is:
Rajasthan PMTRajasthan PMT 2006
Solution:
Combustion of propane takes place as follows:
$\underset{\text { Propane }}{ C _{3} H _{ O }}+\underset{\text { oxygen }}{ 5O _{2}} \longrightarrow 3 CO _{2}+4 H _{2} O$
$\because 1 \,L$ of propane required $5\, L$ of oxygen for combustion.
$\therefore 20 \,L$ of propane required oxygen
$=5 \times 20=100\, L$
