Solution:

Trichonympha is a protistan genus that lives in the intestine of many if not most termite species. They are symbionts in that they break down the cellulose in the wood and plant fibres their host eats and get nutrition in return. These protists are unable to survive elsewhere whereas termites starve to death in their absence.
