The transverse binary fission occurs in
NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020
Solution:
Binary fission is the process of asexual reproduction in which the parent organism divides into two halves. Depending upon the plane of division binary fission may be simple, longitudinal, transverse and oblique. Transverse binary fission is seen in Paramoecium. In this method, an organism is divided into two parts by a transverse plane. No variations are seen in this method as meiosis is absent, so the offspring is almost identical or replica of the parents.
In Amoeba the plane of division is not specific for the binary fission while in Euglena the plane is longitudinal. Yeast reproduces asexually mostly by the asymmetric division process known as budding.
