Q. The time period of an earth satellite in circular orbit is independent of
AIEEE
AIEEE 2004
Gravitation
A
the mass of the satellite
72%
B
radius of its orbit
4%
C
both the mass and radius of the orbit
12%
D
neither the mass of the satellite nor the radius of its orbit.
11%
Solution:
The time period of satellite is given by
$T = 2\pi\sqrt{\frac{\left(R+h\right)^{3}}{GM}}$
where, R + h = radius of orbit satellite, M = mass of earth.
