Q. The susceptibility of magnesium at $300\, K$ is $1.2 \times 10^{-5}$. At what temperature (in kelvin) will its susceptibility be equal to $1.44 \times 10^{-5}$ ?

Magnetism and Matter

Solution:

According to Curie's law,
$\chi_{m}=\frac{C}{T} $
$\therefore \frac{\chi_{m}}{\chi_{m}^{\prime}}=\frac{T^{\prime}}{T}$
or $ T^{\prime}=T \times \frac{\chi_{m}}{\chi_{m}^{\prime}}$
$=\frac{300 \times 1.2 \times 10^{-5}}{1.44 \times 10^{-5}}=250$
