The tetrathionate anion, $S _{4} O _{6}^{2-}$, is a sulfur oxoanion derived from the compound tetrathionic acid, $H _{2} S _{4} O _{6}$.
Two of the sulfur atoms present in the ion are in oxidation state $o$ and two are in oxidation state $+5$.
