Q. The stoichiometry and solubility product of a salt with the solubility curve given below is, respectively:
JEE Main
JEE Main 2020
Equilibrium
A
$X_2Y, 2 \times 10^{-9} M^3$
22%
B
$XY_2, 1 \times 10^{-9} M^3$
10%
C
$XY_2, 4 \times 10^{-9} M^3$
46%
D
$XY, 2 \times 10^{-6} M^3$
22%
Solution:
From the graph & dimensions salt is : $XY_{2}$
$\left[X\right] = 1 × 10^{-3}M$
$\left[Y\right] = 2 × 10^{-3}M$
$XY_2(s) \rightleftharpoons X^{2+}_{(aq.)} +2Y^-_{(aq)}$
$ksp = [X^{2+}] [Y^-]^2$
$= (10^{-3}) (2 × 10^{-3})^2$
$= 4 × 10^{-9}\, M^3$
