: Initiation of polypeptide chain is always brought about by the amino acid methionine which is coded by the codon AUG. The triplet AUG (methionine), GUG (valine) are always found at the 5 starting end of m-RNA and are known as starting codon. If GUG is found in the intermediate position on m-RNA, it can code for amino acids specifically.
