According to given problem, v = $ \frac{ u}{ 2} $
$\therefore \frac{u}{2} = u \, \cos \, \theta$
$ \Rightarrow \cos \, \theta = \frac{1}{2}$
$\Rightarrow \theta = 60^\circ$
