Blast of rice or paddy is caused by the fungus Pyriculuria oryzae of class Deuteromycetes. Magneoporthe grisea is perfect stage of P. oryzae. Red rot of sugarcane is caused by fungus Colletotriciim falcatum and its perfect stage is Glomerella tucumanensis.
