Solution:

The root hanging from the branch of banyan tree are prop root, which are developed from the main branches of tree. These root grow straight downward to the soil, which they enter and form underground root. Due to secondary growth these became thick and provide mechanical support to the plant. Fibrous root may be given off in cluster from the base of stem e.g., onion or from the node of creeping branches of grasses. Neumatophore are characteristic root of mangroove plant, which are responsible for gaseous exchange.
