In staggered cutting or cohesive end style or sticky end style cleavage, the cuts are made in two strands of DNA at two different sites few nucleotides away from each other, thus producing two strands with protruding ends. Enzymes Eco RI, Hind III, Barn HI, Bgl II, Pst I, etc, produce this type of ends.
