Animals are classified as Non chordates or Chordates depending on absence and presence of notochord. Chordates can be Protochordates that include Cephalochordates and Urochordates as well as Vertebrates. Vertebrates are further classified as Pisces and Tetrapods depending on the locomotory organs. Tetrapods include Class Amphibia, Reptilia, Aves and Mammalia. Mammals are those animals that have mammary glands. These animals have well developed respiratory organs i.e. lungs. Whale being a mammal too has lungs.Lungs help to take in atmospheric oxygen easily.
