Q. The resistance of a field coil measures 50$\Omega$ at 20ºC and 65$\Omega$ at 70ºC. The temperature coefficient of resistance is

VITEEEVITEEE 2006

Solution:

The value of temperature coefficient of resistance is given by
$\alpha=\frac{R_2-R_1}{R_1(t_2-t_1)}=\frac{65-50}{50(70-20)}$
$(t_1$ and $t_2$ are in °C)
$\Rightarrow \alpha=\frac{15}{50×50}=0.006/°C$
