Solution:
The typical coil galvanometer is based on the principle that, when a current carrying coil is placed in a magnetic field, the coil experiences a torque.
Since, the current in an AC averages out to zero, the net magnetic field produced will be zero. Hence, the average torque experienced in a given time interval would be zero. Therefore, there will be no deflection.
