The structures of acetophenone and benzophenone are

When acetophenone containing $CH _{3}- \overset{\underset{||}{O}}{C} -$ unit, is treated with $I _{2}$ and $Na _{2} CO _{3}$ it forms yellow precipitate of $CHI _{3}$ whereas benzophenone does not give this test. Acetophenons gives iodoform test due to presence of $- COCH _{3}$ group.
