Friedel-Crafts reaction: This reaction is used to introduce alkyi (methyl or ethyl) group in benzene ring. In this reaction when benzene reacts with alkyi halide $ ({{C}_{2}}{{H}_{5}}Cl) $ in presence of anhydrous $ \text{AlC}{{\text{l}}_{\text{3}}} $ ethyl benzene is obtained.
