Q. The reagent required to convert propene to 1 -propanol is

Alcohols Phenols and Ethers

Solution:

Anti-Markownikoff's hydration occurs by hydroboration-oxidation of alkenes.

$CH _{3} CH = CH _{2} \xrightarrow[{(ii)H_2O_2/OH^-}]{{(i)B_2H_6}} \underset{\text{Anti-Markownikoff's product}}{CH _{3} CH _{2} CH _{2} OH}$

Other three options will lead to Markownikov's hydration, i.e.,

$CH _{3} CH = CH _{2} \longrightarrow CH _{3} CHOHCH _{3}$
