Solution:

Alkyl halide reacts with $ Li $ and $ CuI $ in the presence of ether to give lithium dialkyl cuprate which further reacts with alkyl halide to give alkane. This reaction is called Corey-House reaction. $ {{C}_{2}}{{H}_{5}}Cl+2Li\xrightarrow[{}]{Ether}{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{5}}Li+LiBr $ $ 2{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{5}}Li+CuI\xrightarrow[-Lil]{{}}\underset{lithium\text{ }dialkyl\text{ }cuprate}{\mathop{Li{{({{C}_{2}}{{H}_{5}})}_{2}}Cu}}\, $ $ Li{{({{C}_{2}}{{H}_{5}})}_{2}}Cu+{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{5}}Cl\xrightarrow[{}]{{}} $ $ \underset{n-butane}{\mathop{{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{5}}-{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{5}}}}\,+{{C}_{2}}{{H}_{5}}Cu+LiCl $
