Q. The ratio of principal molar heat capacities of a gas is maximum for :

Kinetic Theory

Solution:

$\gamma = 1 + \frac{2}{F}$
where $F$ is number of degree of freedom.
As $F$ is least for a monoatomic gas molecules, $\gamma$ is maximum for monoatomic gas molecule.
