Q. The r.m.s. speed of the molecules of enclosed gas is $V$. What will be the r.m.s. speed if pressure is doubled keeping the temperature same?

Kinetic Theory

Solution:

Temperature is a quantities which denotes a value which gives the average kinetic energy of molecules in a gas. This depends on velocities of gas molecules and vice-versa. If temperature does not change $V_{r, m . s}$ will also not change.
