Solution:

In reaction with nitrous acid, aromatic and aliphatic amines give diazonium salts. Aromatic diazonium salts are stable but, aliphatic diazonium salts are converted to alcohol via the formation of Carbocation aromatic diazonium salts converted to phenols on reaction with dilute acid. Alcohols converted to iodide with hydrogen iodide.
