Q.
The primary winding of a transformer has $500$ turns and its secondary has $5000$ turns. If primary is connected to a.c. supply of $20\, V$ and $50\, Hz$, then secondary will have an output of
Given :
Number of turns in the primary $N_{1}=500$
Number of turns in the secondary $N_{2}=5000$
Input voltage $V_{1}=20\, V$
Output voltage $V_{2}=?$
We know that
$\left|V_{2}\right| =\frac{N_{2}}{N_{1}} V_{1} $
$=\frac{5000}{500} \times 20=200\, V$
As in a transfomer the output frequency of the ac supply remains the same as that of the input supply, the frequency of the output current will be $50\, Hz$.
