Q. The pressure of given mass of an ideal gas is $P_{1}$ and its volume is $V_{1} .$ It is compressed isothermally and then expanded adiabatically till its pressure restores to initial value $P _{1}$ and then the gas remains its initial volume $V _{1}$. The above process can be correctly represented in the following indicator diagram

Solution:

On reading the graphs in the options and applying the formula Slope of curve of adiabatic process $=\gamma \times$ Slope of curve of isothermal process thus slope of adiabatic process is more than that of isothermal process.
