Q. The power of a water pump is $5 \,KW$, the amount of water it can raise in $5$ minute to a height of $50 \,m$ is $\left( g =10 m / s ^{-2}\right)$

Work, Energy and Power

Solution:

$P=\frac{mgh}{t}=\frac{(\rho \times V) g h}{t}$
$ \Rightarrow \frac{P \times t}{\rho \times gh}=V$
$V=\frac{5 \times 10^{3} \times 5 \times 60}{10^{-3} \times 10 \times 50}$
$V=\frac{1500 \times 10^{6}}{500}=3 \times 10^{6} L$
