Solution:

$Z=\sqrt{R^{2} + ( X_{L} - X_{c} ⁡) ^{2}}$
$\Rightarrow Z=\sqrt{( r 40 + 40 ^{2} + ( 100 - 40 ^{2}}=100\Omega $
$\Rightarrow cos \phi=\frac{R}{Z}=\frac{80}{100}=0.8$
