Q. The ploidy level is not the same in

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

Double fertilization is a unique characteristic observed in the Angiosperm group of plants. In this, two fertilizations are observed - $1^{s t}$ between the female and male gametic cells forming zygote and $2^{n d}$ is between the second male gamete and polar nuclei forming the primary endosperm nucleus. The ploidy of PEN is 3n (male gamete[1n] + polar nuclei[2n]). The polar nuclei are also called as secondary nucleus which is 2n. Endosperm (3n) and secondary nucleus do not have the same ploidy level.
