Fatty acid heads are hydrophilic in nature, and their hydrocarbon tails are hydrophobic in nature. Lipids found in plasma membrane form bilayer in such a way that their hydrophilic head faces outside and hydrophobic hydrocarbon tail is sandwich between hydrophilic heads.
