Q. The pH of $1 m$ solution of a weak monobasic acid (HA) is 2. Then, what is its VAN'T HOFF FACTOR?

Solutions

Solution:

image

$pH =2$

$\therefore \left( H ^{+}\right)=10^{-2} m$

$\therefore C \alpha=10^{-2}$

$\Rightarrow 1 \times \alpha=10^{-2}$

$\alpha=0.01$

$\alpha=\frac{i-1}{n-1}$

$\Rightarrow 0.01=\frac{i-1}{2-1}$

$i=1.01$
