Q. The pair of compound which cannot exist together in solution is
KCET
KCET 2015
Equilibrium
A
$NaHCO_3$ and $NaOH$
53%
B
$NaHCO_3$ and $H_2O$
12%
C
$NaHCO_3$ and $Na_2CO_3$
21%
D
$Na_2CO_3$ and $NaOH$
13%
Solution:
$NaHCO _{3}$ and $NaOH$ compounds cannot exist together in solution as
$NaHCO_3 +NaOH \to \underset{\text{Neutral salt}}{{Na_2CO_3}}+H_2O$
If acid and base present in same solution then they would react and $NaHCO _{3}$ is a slightly acidic compound, while $NaOH$ is a base. H-atom of $NaHCO _{3}$ replace by base, i.e. $NaOH$, give $Na _{2} CO _{3}$ and water
