Methyl alcohol cannot be obtained by hydration of an alkene as it contains only one carbon Mom. Propene on direct hydration gives iso-propyl alcohol and 150-butene on direct hydration gives tert-butyl alcohol. Only ethene on direct hydration gives ethanol.
