Q. The number of waves in an orbit are :

BITSATBITSAT 2006

Solution:

$\frac{ h }{ mv }=\lambda$
De-Broglie concept $\frac{ nh }{2 \pi}= mvr \quad$....Bohr's stationary orbit
$\therefore \frac{ nh }{ mv }=2 \pi r$
$\Rightarrow n \lambda=2 \pi r \text {. }$
Thus in $2 \pi r$ distance $n$ waves are present.
Hence $n$ waves are present in an orbit.
