Q. The number of turns in the primary and the secondary coils of a transformer are $1000$ and $3000$ respectively. If the primary of the coil is connected to $80 \,V$ ac, the potential difference per turn of the secondary coil is

UP CPMTUP CPMT 2011Alternating Current

Solution:

Here, $N_{p} = 1000, N_{s} = 3000 $
$V_{p} = 80 V $
As $\frac{N_{p}}{N_{s}} = \frac{V_{p}}{V_{s}}$
$V_{s} = V_{p} \frac{N_{s}}{N_{p}} $
$= \left(80 \,V\right) \frac{3000}{1000} = 240 \,V$
The potential difference per turn of the secondary coil is
$= \frac{V_{s}}{N_{s}} = \frac{240 \,V}{3000} = 0.08 \,V$
