Catechol, Mandelic acid and $CH_{3}CH_{2}-CO-CH_{2}-CH_{3}\overset{}{ \rightarrow }\text{No yellow ppt}$
Solution aldehydes & ketones having $-\overset{\underset{\left|\right. \left|\right.}{O}}{C}-CH_{3}$ group & $1^\circ $ or $2^\circ $ alcohols having$CH _3- \underset{|}{\overset{|}{C}} - OH$ give yellow ppt $CH _3$ with $I _2 / OH ^{-}$
Her acetone, isopropyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, Butanone & Acetophenone can from $CHI_{3}$ and rest are not
