Solution:

In Selaginella the microspore forms a thirteen celled male gametophyte as a result of segmentation. The deposition of the $13$ cells is as follow:
(i) One prothallial cell which is basal lateral in position
(ii) Eight jacket cells which are peripheral in position
(iii) Four primary androgonial cells which are central in position.
