Seed germination is the process where seed develops into a new plant by producing the shoot and root on germination. The germinated seed forms a young sporophyte called a seedling. It has plumule and radicle, where plumule forms the shoot bearing leaves and flower while the radicle forms the root part. Seedling stage is the most delicate stage of angiosperms and has high mortality rate due to drought condition been one of the main cause as roots are not able to maintain contact with soil sufficiently to prevent water stress.
