Q. The monomer unit of amylopectin is

CMC MedicalCMC Medical 2015

Solution:

Amylopectin is branched chain polymer of $ \alpha $ -D-glucose units, involving about 1000 or more units per molecule. It is insoluble in water. In amylopectin, chain is formed by $ {{C}_{1}} $ and $ {{C}_{2}} $ glycosidic linkage whereas branching occurs by $ {{C}_{1}} $ and $ {{C}_{6}} $ glycosidic linkage. (Structure of glycogen is similar to amylopectin and it is also highly branched).
