Q.
The majority of $CO_2$ is transported into blood as
UP CPMTUP CPMT 2009
Solution:
$70\%$ of $CO_2$ received by blood from the tissues, enters the RBCs where it reacts with water to form carbonic arid $(H_2CO_3)$. This carbonic acid of RBCs dissociates into hydrogen and bicarbonate ions $(HCO_3^-)$ so majority of $CO_2$ transported in blood is in the form of bicarbonates.
