The photo-electric current or the rate of emission of photoelectrons is directly proportional to the intensity of the incident light.

While for photoelectrons to be emitted from a metal plate the frequency of light incident or the plate should be higher than threshold frequency. While negative potential at which photoelectric current becomes zero is called stopping potential. It is a measure of the maximum kinetic energy of the electrons. Hence, magnitude of saturation photoelectric current depends upon intensity.
