Q. The magnetic field $B$ and the magnetic intensity $H$ in a material are found to be $1.6 T$ and $1000 A / m$ respectively. Calculate the relative permeability $\mu_{ r }$ and the susceptibility $\chi$ of material.

Magnetism and Matter

Solution:

$\mu=\frac{B}{H}=\frac{1.6}{1000}$
$=1.6 \times 10^{-3} TmA ^{-1}$
$\mu_{ r }=\frac{\mu}{\mu_{ o }}=\frac{1.6 \times 10^{-3}}{4 \pi \times 10^{-7}}$
$=\frac{1.6 \times 10^{-3}}{4 \times 3.14 \times 10^{-7}}$
$=0.127 \times 10^{4}$
$=1.3 \times 10^{3}$
$\chi_{ m } \Rightarrow \mu_{ r }-1 \approx 1.3 \times 10^{3}$
$\mu_{ r }=1.3 \times 10^{3}$
