Squamous epithelium is made of a single thin layer of flattened cells with irregular boundaries. It is also called pavement epithelium. It is found in the walls of blood vessels and air sacs of lungs and involved in functions like forming a diffusion boundary. It is also found in descending limbs of loops of Henle, membranous labyrinth, coelomic cavities, and rete testis.
