Q. The ionization constant of a weak monobasic acid is $25\times 10^{- 6}$ while the equivalent conductance of its $0.01 \, M$ solution is $19.6 \, Scm^{2}eq^{- 1}$ . The equivalent conductance of the electrolyte at infinite dilution $\left(\right.in \, Scm^{2}eq^{- 1}\left.\right)$ will be

Solution:

$\text{K}_{\text{a}} = \text{Cα}^{2}$

$25 \times 10^{-6}=(0.01) \alpha^2$

$\alpha =5\times 10^{- 2}$

$\alpha =\frac{\Lambda_{e q}}{\Lambda_{e q}^{o}}$

$5\times 10^{- 2}=\frac{19.6}{\Lambda_{e q}^{o}}$

$\Lambda_{e q}^{o}=\frac{19.6}{5 \times 1 0^{- 2}}= \, 392$
