Q. The interhalogen compound not formed is:

Bihar CECEBihar CECE 2001The p-Block Elements - Part2

Solution:

Compounds formed by reaction of halogens among themselves are called interhalogens. The difference in electro negativities among halogens should be high for formation of interhalogen compounds.
$\therefore BrCl _{7}$ is not formed because difference in electronegativities of $Br$ and $Cl$ is not so high so as to oxidise Br to $+7$ state.
