Cercospora is a fungus belonging to sub-division deuteromycotina (fungi imperfecti). Most of the species belonging to this genus are plant pathogens. C. personata causes leaf spot or tikka disease in groundnut (family leguminosae) which is characterized by large and brown spots on the upper surface of leaf followed by separation of cells of lower epidermis from mesophyll.
